Well-known Canadian pro-life activist Father Alphonse de Valk is being investigated for possible "hate crimes" by the Canadian Human Rights Commission. His offense? He cited teachings about marriage contained in the Bible, the Catholic Church's Catechism, and statements made by Pope John Paul II.

A number of surgeons in France are performing hymenoplasty operations for Muslim women who want to appear as virgins when they marry. A recent court ruling annulling the marriage of a woman who had undergone the operation has led to concerns that France may be diluting its republican ideals to accommodate its growing Muslim population.
